Activities at Kruisrivier Guest Farm

     

With its abundance of birdlife, tortoises and flora, Kruisrivier is the perfect getaway for nature lovers and hikers. It offers typical outdoor activities like swimming, fishing and walking, while the river that runs through the farm provides several beautiful spots for picnicking.

WALKING/ BIKING

   

Apart from the 10-minute walking trial following the streams and water-falls in the Kruisrivier gardens, there are no other ‘official’ trails on the farm. There are, however, several farm roads (map available) suitable for either hiking or mountain biking, while the more adventurous may wish to follow some of the animal paths in the surrounding hills.

FISHING

There are several dams on the farm, Spieël-se-Kloof Dam, Drosterskraal Dam and the two dams in Nysend (map available), where you can try for bass and carp. The first two dams are also large enough for canoeing.

BIRD WATCHING

Come and add to our bird list (recorded by Gavin Lawson - Cape Bird Club during their stay 23/12/2004 – 03/01/2005). As Kruisrivier is a working ostrich farm you will have ample opportunity to get close to and to photograph the largest species of all living birds on earth.
